Top baby names 2017: Emma, Liam emerge as No. 1 picks: Social Security

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX/WTTE) – Social Security has revealed the top 10 baby names for boys and girls for 2017.
Emma tops the list for girls, and Liam tops the list for boys.
The top 10 boys names for 2017 are the following:
This is the first time in four years that Noah hasn’t had the top spot, and the first time ever that Liam has claimed number one.
Another noticeable move – the name Michael is out of the top 10 for the first time since World War II, landing at number 12 for 2017.
Logan and Oliver are new for boys, with both making their first appearance on the list.

The top 10 girls names for 2017 are:
There are several new names in the top 10, including Amelia and Evelyn. This is the first time Amelia has ever made the list, and the first time the name Evelyn has made the top 10 since 1915.
The trend of naming daughters after grandmothers continues, with the choice of traditional names.
Additionally, the name Emily also fell out of the top 10 for the first time since 1990.
